Spin participating in Digital Transformers Study Visit in Armenia

Between 19th and 23rd April 2023, we participated in „Digital Transformers Study Visit“ in Armenia as a final event of the long-term training course „Digital Transformers“. The long-term training course started in October 2022 and included blended-hybrid capacity building on digital youth work in the form of 4 online training sessions, 1 residential training in Lithuania, and a study visit in Armenia. The training sessions were focused on discovering topics such as digital participation, inclusion, well-being, digital rights, digital sustainability and emerging technologies. Online training sessions were accompanied by online panel sessions open to a wider audience.

During the study visit in Armenia, we were able to visit the following inspiring organisations and companies:

  • TUMO Center for Creative Technologies in Yerevan: a free-of-charge educational program that puts teens in charge of their own learning. Their learning program is made up of self-learning activities, workshops and project labs that revolve around 14 learning targets.
  • Picsart Academy in Yerevan: an educational institution that created a pipeline model for youth to become tech professionals through non formal education methodologies.
  • Youth organisations „Kasa Humanitarian Foundation“ in Gyumri and Armenian Progressive Youth in Yerevan: organisations winners of Salto awards in 2021 for the most inspiring and creative projects in the field of digital participation and active citizenship.

  • Arloopa: a company that works with individuals, brands, creative advertising agencies, museums, schools and cities to make everyday life filled with new content and visual experiences, educational and entertaining AR (augmentative reality) discoveries.

  • American University of Armenia: a private, independent university located in Yerevan working on the involvement of VR (virtual reality) in daily educational activities with students and young people.

The final part of the study visit served for 25 youth workers from 18 countries to discuss their further plans and work together on developing new projects addressing digital transformation in youth work.

The study visit in Armenia was organised by SALTO Eastern Europe and Caucasus. The whole project was co-organised by SALTO Inclusion & Diversity and SALTO Participation & Information. It is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union by the National Agencies of Austria, Belgium-FL, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, and Portugal. SALTO SEE was also covering traveling costs for participants from Western Balkan countries.
